Victor Thruster K-9000
by Mark Appleton Date Added: Friday 23 May, 2014
Probably the best Victor racket to date.

I used to prefer head-light Nanospeed-style rackets but have recently come back to head-heavy territory, and the TK9000 is probably the best example of this since the SW35.

Even in 4U it has enormous power - it plays a lot stiffer than the 3/5 rating suggests. Probably between a VT80 and VTZF, if anything. This power comes with almost no work, though, unlike a ZF (which is a real handful). I would be very curious to compare mine to a 3U, but we don't get the 3U in Europe!

My TK9000 are all around 310 mm balance but the defence is extraordinary - it just goes where you put it. Stiff shaft + fast head seems to have done the trick, because I NEVER feel slow when defending with it.

Control depends on string and tension, but the frame is very strong in the throat area (graphene, probably), so the shuttle placement is excellent, as is the feel (unless you catch it outside the sweet spot, which is admittedly small and high).

Add to all this the LOOKS, and it's a winner. The ONLY change I would make is to the string pattern: it needs another cross at the top.

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]
